Julia Child's Rose: Like Butter

Of course the Julia Child rose would be the color of butter. A friend of Danielle and Bill Hahn from Rose Story Farm, Julia chose a bloom from their test garden to carry her name. Some even say it smells like butter. Hardy - the notes from Rose Story Farm call it bullet proof - and a frequent bloomer, it seems to have taken on some of Julia's personality. A garden dedicated to this lovely rose and its namesake is a highlight of a visit to Rose Story Farm. A bench from Julia's own garden is the centerpiece and I like to imagine that she sits there from time to time and smells the beautiful, buttery rose that bears her name.

Happy Monday, all! Hope you have a rosy week. XO

  2. A name gives so much more depth to a person's character, a rose's fragrance and design. What a BRILLIANT rose! I can see you painting this, Jeanne...

  4. My Julia Child is blooming (I hope) in the yard of a house recently sold. A beautiful flower and the happiest face in the garden. I miss her and am reminded to bring another to my new home. 🌹

  7. What a beautiful rose and such a fun story. You're right...of course Julia Child's rose would be called "butter". Just love it!!!! My sweet mom headed back to Texas this morning, so I'm finally getting back to my routine. And, you saw, I'll be having another special house guest this week. So fun, right?! We're headed up to Bunny Williams' annual garden antique sale. Should be interesting!

And, I'm counting down the days until you're in NYC....just a couple of weeks! I guess we need to pick a spot for lunch. Do we know how many of us there will be? Happy to help set something up.

    xoxo Elizabeth
