An Early Spring Wander Through South Kensigton

Seattle's magnolias had long since faded when we left for London. What a treat to arrive in South Kensington and find that they had just started to bloom. A soft touch of pink against the graphic black and white facades of the neighborhood. A second chance at early spring. How lovely to wander and take in the vines and topiaries and brass knockers against ebony doors. All the pretty little details that make this such a lovely neighborhood to explore while watching spring unfold.

Back at home, the pink of magnolias and cherry blossoms have shifted to roses and soon peonies as summer announces itself. The steady roll of blooming things such a wonderful part of this time of year.

What's in bloom in your neighborhood right now? Hope you can get out and enjoy it this weekend! XOXO

  2. How wonderful to have spring not once but twice!

These past few days have been very hot here and so have officially turned the page on the spring blooms. The poppies are wilting and the irises are all but finished. Happily, there are many beautiful roses throughout our tiny village. :)
    Bon Weekend, Pretty One!

  3. Fabulous, Jeanne! What is blooming here? Well, the magnolias have passed, but my creeping phlox are generous in their show, the azaleas "sont en bouton" and constant sunshine gives way to blue skies.

    What fabulous photos! Anita

  4. Ah the many joys of travel, especially getting to enjoy spring more than once in a year! Love the urns on the balcony and the elephant in your photos. Here the magnolia is in full bloom, the roses have mostly finished their first bloom and I eagerly await my dahlias. Have a wonderful weekend!

  7. Flowers are blooming very quickly in our neck of the woods with temps last weekend in the 80's. We'd love to delay the peonies a bit since they blossom so quickly and we never have a chance to really enjoy them. Can't wait to see you in two weeks!

  13. I love how you saw the juxtaposition of the light pink and the black and white. Stunning!!!!!

I bet I say goodbye to the tulips later this week. I saw a rhodadendrum blooming today and my peonies are tight little buds. It's really fun seeing the blooms cascade across our time zones like a bunch of people doing "the wave" at a sports event!!!

Hope your dinner was lovely and that the rain is slowing down!
    xoxo Elizabeth
