Winter Survival Guide Part 3: Some Couture Fantasy

It's gray, it's cold, it's rainy... or snowy. It's winter. And this time of year, a little color, a little beauty, and a bit of magic is very welcome. Which is why the January Couture shows are always such lovely fantasy. Of course, the chance that I'll ever wear couture is about the same as Queen Elizabeth inviting me to tea...

But sometimes dreams are just what we need...

Giambattista Valli's frothy romance, Chanel's enchanted green house, Valentino's walking poetry were especially gorgeous. The craftsmanship, the detail, the theatricality of it all. In a world that moves so fast, it's nice to know that some things are still made by little hands.

Happy Wednesday, everyone. Hope you find some time to come in from the cold and dream a bit today! XO

  1. Jeanne,
    Ah, Haute-Couture!
Thank-you~ As dreamers, we all need to reach for the pretty, the frothy and find the fantasy - especially during the Winter! I have learned to embrace the Winter, storms and all but that said, I am looking forward to the all the blossoms of Spring and the greening up of the grass which is covered in a blanket of white.
The art of Couture will always inspire me to dream.
A Couture house needs your artwork! It's delicate and dreamy and also made my little hands~

  2. Good morning Jeanne! Lovely. It's not easy to paint fashion, but you did it! Very bright and happy and thank you for the inspiration to wear something colorful today! Anita

  3. What stunning images! You captured it beautifully.

  4. I LOVE this, Jeanne! Absolutely beautiful.
I think we all need a little spring right now.

  5. Jeanne, all of these collections and indeed your illustration are dreamy!!
Sleet and snow coming down right now so we need these shots of bright beauty!

  6. Oh, how I would adore to attend Paris Fashion Week!!! It was such fun when I got to attend a couple of shows here in NYC a few years back. I am having a fashion crush on Giambattista Valli right now, so that would be the show I'd really love to see!

The snow/slush/ice is the anti-fashion weather. I end up in a "uniform" of leggings, t-shirts, sweaters, weatherproof boots, but a cute little Moncler jacket that has fun sleeves and a ribbon tie. It almost makes winter bearable! :)

Hope you are having a great week, Jeanne!!!! Seattle back to normal yet?
    xoxo Elizabeth

  7. You know how we LOVE your illustrations - so fun!!

  8. Oh Jeanne you have me dreaming...and love your painting. A friend of mine was there and said her favorite was the dreamy collection from Ralph n Russo and she sent me pictures, I thought I died and went to couture heaven:) So much so that I am featuring the collection on a post tomorrow! It is fun to dream isn't it...another perk of being a girl:)

  9. so fun! look at these fanciful creations that are good enough to eat. in fact, yes, i am now craving cake! (and the larder lacks cake...boohoo). thanks for the escape, jeanne--you def know your way around winter blues and fashion. peace.

  10. As always, your beautiful artwork is an escape during my days! For me, I am just dreaming of the days when the snow is gone and a fantasy vacation to anywhere with a beach and 80 degree temps! Enjoy the rest of your week, Jeanne! xoxo

  11. As I read this "our" rain is beating at the roof and drizzling down the drain, but I am living the fantasy. Merci.
