Painting the Promise of Spring

Couldn't resist painting that ginger jar full of pink tulips... Truth be told, if I could paint only one thing, it might be flowers. Of course from time to time they'd have to be in a gorgeous piece of blue and white! Colbalt blue and bright pink have to be my favorite color combo of the moment... they whisper of warm skies and spring blooms.

At 9x13, this piece is bigger than I've been working of late - it wouldn't even fit into our scanner, so all the images you're seeing here are photos.

BTW, this one's for sale and would love to live in a beautiful home. Please contact me if you are interested. Update: It's been sold. Thanks so much for your kind words and inquiries!

What creative projects have you been up to lately? XOXO

  1. Jeanne,
You need to create a series and have a show. See if there is a gallery nearby or a lovely florist shop that you can connect with! Just beautiful. Make sure you get prints of it before you let the original go. Printers have the capability to scan large items - Look at Stampa.
Looks like you are really having fun with flowers!!!!! My creative project is to have more fun.....and just love. If I over think or analyze, I get stuck.

    1. Love the idea is to have more fun. I agree, if I think too much, I get stuck - that's why our "30 minute sketch" project has been so much fun - no time to think. So many good ideas, as always thanks so much for the inspiration! XO

As my office hopefully finally gets the much needed makeover its been waiting for i would love to eventually incorporate some of your beautiful pieces on the walls! As it starts I will get a better idea of what I need...thanks for sharing.

  3. I love pve's idea and wonder if your friend Pam at Red Ticking wouldn't be the perfect host for your show? Yay!!!! And I hope this puppy is already sold by now, if not it will be soon! So, you are having camera trouble but that just means more painting time...as Remi always says, "Life is always right."...

    1. Exactly what I was thinking, Heather. Your Remi is a wise man. The camera needs to be shipped back to Cannon to see if they can fix it, and could be gone for up to 8 weeks, darn it! So there will be much more illustration and painting going on here, which is as it should be! XOXO

  5. Be still my heart!!!!!! It's so fun that you associate the promise of spring with pink tulips. I KNOW Spring has arrived when I begin to see my little pink tulips push up from the ground. I am anxiously counting down the days (but careful not to count them away) until Spring arrives.

I LOVE this painting!!!!! And, I know I need you to paint me some pink tulips. Will circle back to you! :)
