Home for Christmas

Happy Friday, all! Welcome to our house. Come on in, and I'll show you how we've decked the halls...

Many of the elements stay the same year over year. Plenty of greens (lots of boxwood this time!) and other bits of flora....

This year, it was fun incorporating a few things from the Champagne Party into our holiday decor. Longtime favorite bird ornaments from Red Ticking and Watson Kennedy found new branches to perch on...

Vintage ornaments are everywhere - my favorites in the bowl that used to always sit on the dining room table at my parent's house...

More casual and homemade in the family spaces...

Even my desk got decked!

The tree is much the same, I love bringing out old treasures, but there are always a few new friends, too...

I'm so glad you could pop by - wish we could sip some champagne by the fire and chat awhile.

Hope all your holiday fa-la-la ing, etc., is coming along, but most importantly that you are having fun in the moment. My sweet friend Elizabeth said the best thing the other day, about taking time to "Notice the Magic" - even if that means seeing the Christmas lights decorating the construction cranes while you're stuck in traffic, or hearing that one song that makes you smile this time of year while you stand in line at the grocery store...

Here's to a wonderful weekend of noticing the magic around us! XOXO

  1. And that is what it's all about for a poet...to notice the unseen, forgotten treasures embedded in every day life. To hear the lyrics of a Christmas song on the radio while you're stuck in traffic, to enjoy the details of your home, even though (like me), the décor isn't very showy.

Jeanne, I have been enjoying following your world. Your home looks like it's straight out of VERANDA magazine!!!!!!

Cheers to you sweet Jeanne and to a fabulous WEEKEND! Anita

    1. Anita, you are too kind. Not quite Veranda over here (I leave that to my friend Dana), just some clever photo editing :-)

I hope you have a fabulous weekend, too! XOXO

  2. Jeanne,
Is that the desk where you work? I love it. Love how you dress your home in holiday style.
    Enjoy the Magic.

    1. Patricia, yes! That is the desk where I work - when it's not covered with holiday cards and unaddressed envelopes and ribbon and all kinds of stuff. (Notice I didn't show the desk top.) Hard to be productive when the holidays take over. But oh what fun!

Hope you enjoy the magic, too! XOXO

  3. So beautiful ! I love boxwood, but it's not very easy to find garlands and wreaths made with it here in my area of New England. I'm finding that I'm moving towards much less glitz and over-the-top Christmas decorating. Though every year I do make sure to use my pink & silver Christmas ball wreath that I made so many years ago. I don't care what color scheme I'm using, I make it work! Oh so ready to simplify and have a few gorgeous, natural touches around my home. I'm impatiently waiting for my Paperwhites & Amaryllis to bloom to help with the Christmas spirit! After seeing your Eiffel Tower and France suitcase ornaments, I popped right over to Nordstrom where they're having a great sale on ornaments! I couldn't resist putting a few in my shopping bag for gifts! Warmest wishes for a joyous holiday season!

    1. Roxanne, so funny, those Eiffel Tower and France Suitcase ornaments are from Nordstrom! One of my girlfriends works there (I used to, too) and gave them to me. I actually ordered all the boxwood online since it isn't super common here, either. Except for at Trader Joes where they had wreaths for under $10... of course I didn't know this until after I had ordered mine. Oh well!

      XOXO

  5. Everything is so pretty and festive Jeanne! Don't you love those boxwood wreaths?? They are my favorite .. and also magnolia. Well....... I am so far behind that it's embarrassing and I won't talk about it. Just when the dust settles, the construction crew comes back in and makes a mess. I am attempting to accept that things are not perfect and trying to carry on!

Have fun today and hope you have something fun planned for this weekend.

    1. Thanks so much, Leslie. Perfect is over rated, I think. As long as you have Christmas in your heart the decorations don't matter so much. (Did that sound totally corny?) Carry on and have fun.

Hope you have some fun plans this weekend - we're out at a big party tonight but home tomorrow. Can't wait! XOXO

    1. Thanks, Elizabeth. I'm putting toothpaste in my husband's stocking ;-) Yes, another Elizabeth, this one has two young ones - one who is a handful, the other who is on not one but two soccer teams. She creates a beautiful home and still finds time to run every day. She's busy, but always is aware of the magic. So inspiring!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend, too! XOXO

  9. Jeanne, your home is gorgeous and seeing it all decked out for Christmas is a joy! I do hope you are finding the magic of the season. We skipped town for a couple of days (even though my home is not decorated and the gifts aren't wrapped)...I am enjoying the beautiful decorations at the hotel and can hear bells ringing down on the street...pure magic! Have a beautiful weekend! xoxo

  10. I adore that boxwood wreath with the simple red bow and I am with you. I don't do a decorator tree. I prefer dragging out the ornaments that have sentimental value...even if my tree is getting a little crowded!!
