Hello, November!

Happy Monday! Did you have a fun Halloween? And here we are in November, which hardly seems possible. A month of celebrating with friends and family, of feasting, and the final flourish of autumnal color as the trees fling off the rest of their leaves. When we finally actually need to wear our warmest coats and coziest sweaters. When fires begin to crackle in the hearth and we get to stop and say thanks for all the abundance in our lives.

It sometimes feels like we want to hurry through November to get to December and Christmas. But in November there is so much to savor and be thankful for, it seems a shame to rush.

Here's to delighting in every bite of a month that's as sweet as your grandmother's pumpkin pie.

What do you love the most about November?

Hope your week is off to a delicious start! XOXO

  1. As always love your illustrations, they are so charming! I love a lot about Nov...... the nip in the air but it is not ridiculously cold, fall sports, the gorgeous foliage, cozy sweaters and boots weather, comfort foods, Thanksgiving and the fact that compared to Dec. it is a month akin to the "calm before the storm".....a relatively peaceful month and that is a GREAT thing!

    1. Thank you, Tina! I do love the calm of November, although this year I feel like it's a bit of a storm as we are doing a lot of entertaining and travel, too! It's going to be full of fun. Hope your November is full of your favorite things! XOXO

  2. Jeanne,
Thankful for my latest good news in regard to my health and then for my family and friends. I love Thanksgiving! I am participating in the 30 day Thankful challenge on Instagram. As a Mom, I just loved this quote a wonderful Preschool Matriarch shared with the parents,
    September is crying
    October is trying
    November is flying
It is true that by November things seem to be flying and before you know it, there will be the Holidays and a brand new year to Welcome!

  3. Such beautiful images, your paintings are wonderful, as are your words. I love November. It is the month that finally invites autumn to Southern California. Until then it's a yo-yo of a couple of cool days and then a few summer like days!
    Happy November.

  6. Hi agree Jeanne! ..let's savor the month of November. I walked into a store yesterday that was filled with Christmas trees and ornaments and I said to all that could hear .. everyone look away!! ;) It's ridiculous but I guess everyone is trying to get a jumpstart on making money for the holidays.

If all goes as planned, I will have a lot to be thankful for as our home is scheduled to be (almost) finished by Thanksgiving. We have out of town guests coming and I'm totally stressed because so much needs to happen between now and then. Side note: contractors have no idea what a schedule is .. so when they say something will happen you just pray they show up.

    Happy Monday!

    1. Leslie, good luck! I am crossing my fingers that your project will be finished by Thanksgiving. I've been there with those contractors who don't show and all those unexpected delays. It can be maddening. Breath deep and hang in there. I know it will be gorgeous when it's done! XOXO

  8. The trees were certainly flinging their leaves yesterday in 40 mile/hr gusts and we spent most of the day and night without power shivering... Not a great way to start the month! But today's 60 degrees and sun made us realize that we need to enjoy every day, even if layered with sweaters!

  9. Oh, I just love the pies!!!!! SO cute in the November! You are sooooo clever!

I have to say that getting through Halloween was huge. Both my boys wanted to be with friends in another neighborhood. I'm happy that November is here. The leaves have turned and after yesterday's wind are mainly on the ground! :) I have a big college reunion, hosting my mom for a week at Thanksgiving, hope to take the boys into NYC to see the Macy's balloons inflated, taking them to Matilda the weekend after….and then it's full blown holidays. And, I need to make some pies!
    xoxo Elizabeth

  10. HI JEANNE! Oh, I was in such a rush this morning to get to work, I missed visiting my favorite blogs! I LOVE NOVEMBER! And thank you for visiting my post. You are right; perspective can change a raining day into a magical opportunity to see something other than the rain, or HEAR something different, ya know?

Sweet as pie, yes, that is November. Enjoy every bit of it, Jeanne! Anita

  12. Hi from Singapore! I can't believe it is November! It is 90 and humid here on the equator so talk of crisp air, crackling fires and cozy sweaters makes me a bit homesick. It is funny to see fall fashions in shop windows and Christmas decorations in weather like this. Hugs to you, dear Jeanne!!!
