You're Invited: Come Sail Away

Hello and happy April! So this is exciting: I've been asked by the lovely Marsha at Splenderosa to join her International Blog Party, "By Invitation Only." What amazing company I find myself in - some of Blogland's very best who post each month on a shared topic. I'm thrilled to be asked to chime in. This month's subject: sailing away on a cruise and a "must pack" list.

Imagine, a dear friend has always wanted to celebrate her birthday in Greece and finally, this is the year. The invitation arrives detailing a luxurious week on board a yacht, sailing the Greek Isles. Warm days, amazing food, favorite friends - how fabulous. The only caveat: you've been asked to pack light and limit yourself to only 10 items of clothing and accessories. What do you bring? Where to even start?

How about a color palette of lovely turquoise and blues and whites that echo the waters and landscape?

A Greek Goddess dress is a must, to wear ashore on evenings out. A chic cover up that can also double as a day dress, definitely. A bikini in a pretty blue print, you'll be living in that, for sure. And for snorkeling or days when you've had too much sun, a rash guard in a nautical stripe. A sarong in all the colors of the sea is so very versatile. You'll need the shade of a floppy hat to protect your skin. A little straw clutch. Jackie O shades. Sandals that look equally smashing roaming the deck or wandering picture-perfect villages. Definitely some turquoise baubles to accessorize. Hmmm...that adds up to 10... of course, though, you have to throw them all in a bag, so how about a cute canvas tote you'd carry anywhere?

Whew. You're ready to cruise. Hopefully someone else will bring the sunblock!

What 10 things would you never sail away without?

For those of you who might be visiting for the first time, thank you so much for stopping by, I'm so glad you did. And my readers and friends, I hope you'll pop over to see the rest of this talented group and check out their takes on this topic. You'll find them all at Splenderosa.

  2. Jeannie,
This would be a huge challenge. I'm working on paring down my closet but only 10 items for a trip might be a stretch. I do love the colors you've selected.

    1. Thanks, Karen. I had to laugh because there is no way I could actually limit myself to just 10 things - even just pretending too was a tough exercise that on brought all sorts of fretting. But at least in my imagination I am capable of packing light! XO

How interesting - I think that we'll meet each other somewhere in the middle of the Aegean Sea or on some of the islands, or...???...
Looks that we both have the same destination......it's a small world.
    Lovely outfits - charming post.

  9. Welcome to our crazy BIO group - a jetsam/flotsam mix of personalities and women from lots of different backgrounds and countries yet with one thing in common: a love of life. Which you obviously have in spades too.

It was terribly hard to stick to 10 I found, but you did it in style. Love the turquoise/ blue theme to pull it all together, and ever so suitable for a watery holiday. A gorgeous post.
