Puerto Vallarta In Watercolor

Monday again! How was the weekend? The sun came out for a few hours on Sunday, teasing us with a delicious hint of spring.

But otherwise the rain won the weekend, making me content to stay inside and keep warm with memories of a beautiful trip to Puerto Vallarta.

Plenty of fresh limes for margaritas and avocados for guacamole made Happy Hour so happy!

A bright pink bikini coordinated with the bougainvillea and paired perfectly with leopard flip flops.

The whales waved to us at sunset, while we sipped our sun-downers and said goodbye to another perfect day with dear friends.

Any favorite memories from your recent or not-so-recent adventures?

Have a lovely week, everyone! XO

  1. Your drawings bring out my teenager in me and remind me of first vacations and all that goes with, seeing palm trees, bright bikinis, tasting tropical fruits and sunrises and sunsets!

  2. Your palm tree actually reminds me of my grandparents' home in South Texas. They lived on a citrus orchard and you knew you were getting close on our 12 hour drive down from Dallas, when you began to see the palm trees. The Mexican border was just 5 miles away.

On another note, I adore Mexico and these photos remind me of my Nov trip to Las Ventanas...a true getaway and the whales remind me of being at my father-in-laws in Manzanillo, where you can see the whales making their southern trip.

I'm off again to Dallas this week -- sort of a vacation. Taking the boys as they are on Spring Break!!! So, will be keeping up from a warmer locale than where I normally am.

    Happy Monday!
    xoxo Elizabeth

    1. Elizabeth, I love palm trees but they are a rarity here in Seattle - perhaps that's why I love them so, they remind me of faraway, warm exotic places! How lovely that your grandparents lived on a citrus orchard, it must have been amazing!

Hope you and your boys have a wonderful time in Texas this week. Safe travels! XOXO

  5. Our adventures are mostly home bound these days as we wait for spring to arrive... It seems like Old Man Winter is hanging on and not allowing Mother Nature to do her thing!

    1. It's the same here, ladies. We get glimpses of spring, but the rain just won't stop - we're already over the average for the entire month of March and barely a week in. Spring has to come soon, right? From the looks of your Instagram, you had some fun adventures at Imagine Dragons over the weekend!

      Happy Monday! XOXO

  6. Beautiful illustrations Jeanne! We were in Puerto Vallarta years ago and had a wonderful time. The cobblestone streets and laid back vibe was perfect. We also toured Elizabeth Taylor and Richard B. old place. If you haven't been it's worth the visit (if they are still offering tours?) Enjoy your Monday! xxL

    1. Merci, Leslie! I just love those cobbled streets. We didn't visit, but actually stayed just down the street from the Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton home on a trip a few years back. We were at a lovely boutique hotel called Hacienda San Angel and it gave us a feel for the magic that lives behind some of the walls in old town - you would have never expected such a beautiful space would be beyond the door there.

      Happy Monday! XOXO

  8. Hello Jeanne

You captured Puerto Vallarta beautifully in words an also your happy, colourful watercolours. How exciting to see whales. Painting on location imprints the memories in our mind.
