Blue Monday: An Enchanting New Home

Hi all, if you've been following along for awhile you know that I believe there's nothing sad about a Blue Monday. In fact, it's one of my favorite things! And this Blue Monday I want to celebrate and send a big thank you to Tina at The Enchanted Home.

A couple weeks ago I got an email from the talented Miss Tina, asking me if I had time to illustrate a ginger jar for her new blog format, which she wanted to launch quite soon. Of course, I could! I love working with Tina, probably because we share a love for many of the same things. After firing a few emails back and forth, we decided on a blue and white ginger jar with some cherry blossoms.

Once that came to life, I knew I wanted to paint her another ginger jar, this time without the blossoms, as a congratulations and thank you gift for including me as part of her new blog home.

How lovely to see the little jars hanging out in her new format - they look quite happy there, I think.

I love Tina for her enthusiasm and the sense of fun and engagement she brings to the blog world. And that she continues to be a wonderful way to get my blue and white fix:

Congratulations, Tina, on building another Enchanted Home. I can't wait to see what dreams come to life there.

Happy Monday, everyone! XOXO

PS: If you're planning to take on your own blog home "remodel" project, I'd be happy to talk to you about custom illustration. Just email me at jeannemckay@yahoo.com

    1. Thank you Karolyn! Yes, when I left my Nordstrom marketing job it was to pursue painting full time. Two years later and my life is a dream come true. Lucky, lucky me, I get to paint every day now! I'm super happy for Tina and love her new blog! XOXO

  8. Oh I can't wait to pop over to Tina's but I do think that you make such a wonderful pair. Jeanne, I know that I have said it a million times, but do you consider selling your work? I know that you would have many takers. And I can't help but be curious as to what would be your idea for a painting for my blog...??

  9. Sweet Heather, I do sell my work! Tina's requested project was a commission (the second jar was a gift) and I've been doing commissioned work for about a year and a half now! I'm not selling prints, etc., yet but that probably will happen eventually. I think for your blog something with Kipling and Ben? Or some fantastic detail of beautiful Arles? (I always think of the fantastic details and patina when I think of your blog and your photos). Thanks so much for asking and as always for your kind praise, it is much appreciated.

Gros Bisous back to you, ma belle! XOXO

    1. Oops! I am sorry I wasn't clear--the caffeine hadn't kicked in yet! I know (and applaud) your commissioned work and if I ever make the jump to wordpress, I just might order one myself! But I meant yes, in prints or cards and calenders that Tina could sell in her boutique. :)
And I loved hearing your ideas. Perfect as always. Wish you were here today--we could have run across the street for tartines!

    2. Oh, that duck and Cantal tartine would hit the spot right now! Wish I was there, too! Good thinking on the prints and cards, they will probably make their way into the world before the year is over! XOXO

  15. Oh Jeanne, the illustrations are just fantastic!!!!! I knew the instant I opened Tina's blog that your handiwork was there. Such a perfect illustration for her blog and I love how the extra ginger jar has a new spot with her social media icons.

Congratulations on such a plum assignment! I think the two of you are a match in blue and white heaven!
