Gilding the Pumpkins

"The thinnest yellow light of November is more warming and exhilarating than any wine they tell of." - Henry David Thoreau

Happy Friday! How was your Halloween? Can you believe we've flipped the calendar to November? All the Jack o Lanterns in the neighborhood look a little forlorn this morning - like they lived it up a bit too much last night.

Most of the pumpkins at our house hang out through Thanksgiving, but this year, they're getting a makeover. Admittedly, I'm way more artsy than crafty, but became obsessed with the gilded pumpkins from Cupcakes and Cashmere and decided to go for the gold. It was a bit of a disaster at first - gold leaf everywhere, my hands looked like I had strangled C-3PO. But in the end the little guys aren't half bad all dressed up.

We're having a harvest dinner this weekend, and I think they'll make perfect place cards. More on that Monday!

Until then, have a wonderful weekend.  XO

  4. beautiful, I tried spray painting some pumpkins and turkeys gold last year thinking it would look like gold leaf...it didn't. Yours proof I should not have been so lazy. Forlorn jack o lanterns...and strangling C-3PO...two visuals making me laugh, so funny
