"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea." --Henry James

Our Tea Party Illustration
Happy Wednesday, everyone. Hope you're having a holly-jolly week! I'm just popping in for a quick hello. A friend and I co-hosted a holiday tea for the neighborhood ladies yesterday. I meant to snap a bunch of pictures to share with you but got so caught up in the fun and festivities that I didn't get chance.
This week is full of holiday hustle and bustle, so I think I'm going to put my feet up for a bit and relax with tea in a pretty china cup. Hope you get to take a few moments for yourself today, too. XO

That drawing is EXQUISITE! Loooove it, I could see it blown up, framed and hung in a beautiful dressing area or ladies office. You are such a talent Jeanne:)
ReplyDeleteThat might very well be one of my favorites of yours, Jeanne. And lets hear it for having too much fun to take photos!!

Hello Jeanne
ReplyDeleteI love your watercolour and so beautifully executed. The values and composition work in harmony. This invitation set the stage for an elegant soiree.

tea and macarons, perfection. Love that color combo
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty painting, Jeanne! I would love to see you do a whole series of these....a painting a day. You are so talented.
ReplyDeleteTrès jolie illlustration, Jeanne. So this is what civilized afternoon tea looks like... Too bad I do not enjoy tea as much as I love coffee :-) This is one ritual that has often passed me by... Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
ReplyDeleteIs that your china? I love it. I think I need to unpack my tea service and have a ladies tea. It does sound so much more gentile than that of a "to to paper" cup.

We're reading this as we indulge in our own cup of tea this afternoon at our desks. Thank you for such a pretty pause in our day.

I agree - it's a good sign that you were having such a wonderful time that you forgot to take pictures. And with talent like yours, you can paint your memories instead! :) Hope to see you next week after your hustle and bustle dies down a bit. :)
ReplyDeleteJeanne I adore this illustration. You capture the loveliness of tea time so perfectly!

Ah! A pot of tea ... a macaron perhaps Pistache or salted caramel .... a little closing of the eyes .... It's a special time of the day.

I agree with that quote, and the illustration is perfection. I love your work.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I enjoy tea in the afternoons when she is here.
Happy Wednesday.

I'm a huge afternoon tea fan and I absolutely agree with that quote. Your illustration is so perfect and would be a beautiful image for a special birthday card. Pretty macarons and traditional china - gorgeous.

My oldest son keeps asking me to take him to the Plaza for tea. How cute is that?! I love that you're taking some time to enjoy the season!
