Table Top Block

Hi all! Happy Thursday. The week is flying by, but I've been looking forward to today for weeks! I'm having a few of my girlfriends over for Book Club tonight. The fall weather is just begging for a cozy night in. I've got a yummy autumn-y squash-y menu planned. But admittedly I'm a bit stuck with the table top! Fall colors for sure. Pumpkins and dahlias seem like a must. Blue and white is unavoidable at our house. But I want to make sure I'm not repeating myself and that we don't have too many ghosts of table tops past hanging around...

Here's a few photos from fall feasts prior:

What are your favorite elements of a fall table setting?

And with that, I'm off to juggle some little white pumpkins. Wish me luck! Hopefully there will be some photos to publish tomorrow. XO

  1. Those placecards! That blue and white! My eye honed right in on the beauty.....gorgeous!! I love the placecards, what a special touch for your lucky guests!! Sounds like fun, I am having a girls night soon myself and starting to think about what I will serve,etc...its always such fun and so effortless when we are doing this for a bunch of girlfriends! Have fun!

PS Reading anything worth sharing? About half way through Gone girl and really liking it.

  2. Your table looks wonderful Jeanne and I know whatever you do people will love it. It really isn't about the table anyway but the people you share it with. Have fun tonight and share the books you've been reading please.

  3. Of course, I love the placecards best! :) And I agree with Debra, you will have a wonderful time no matter what the table top.

My favorite element for an autumn table setting is copious amounts of wonderful red wine! So don't ask me. But I am in the midst of reading "The Lacuna" by Barbara Kingslover (one of my favorite authors) and am loving it. It would be good for a book club, lots to talk about!

    1. Thanks for the recommendation, Heather! La Lacuna sounds great. Love Barbara Kingslover. xo

  4. Your setting is just magical and I would love to be a guest. I love reviewing books - what is your book?

Having been in Ireland recently, my bedside table has a stack of books. "Lady Gregory's Toothbrush" by Colm Toibin is my current book. Not suitable for a book club as one one have a rich knowledge of Irish history and the formation of the Abby Theatre in Dublin.

    Enjoy your evening

  5. I adore the white pumpkins! From what I see here, there is no doubt the tabletop will be amazing. Can't wait to see what you do, Jeannie.
    Happy Thursday.

  6. I'm thinking that if you do the placecards again that should drive your color scheme! I'm with Tina -would love some good book tips as I am always on the look out for another good read. Have fun tonight!

  7. Hi all! Thanks for the encouragement. Glad you liked the place cards! I'm hoping to have time to make some today. I've got a little glimmer of what I think I want to do with the table and am off to Pike Place Market this morning for flowers. Our book was "An Unexpected Guest", which I wrote about a while back:

Loved it! "Where'd You Go Bernadette" is another good one:

I'll let you know what we pick for our next read! XO

  8. what a fabulous gathering that will be. can't wait to see what you come up with. and envious that you have a book club. wish i was invited!

  9. those dahlias so rich....have fun. Love experimenting with tablescapes, yours so well done

  10. I love those cute little white pumpkins. I haven't seen them yet here in the North of England - so I'm on a mission to find some!

  11. We're thinking white pumpkins are definitely in this year and paired with dahlias - so pretty! Hope you had a great evening.
    C + C

  12. Well it looks like your girlfriends get looked after very well indeed - I want to be part of your book club!

    1. Thanks Sharon! I would love to have you as part of our book club. Consider yourself an honorary member! XO
