Back To It!

"I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address." - You've Got Mail

My Illustration

Happy September, everyone! After sneaking in quite late, summer seems determined to hang around a bit here in Seattle. But turning the calendar at the end of August always feels like a return to seriousness and scholarly ways - whether one is going back to class or not.

Do you ever buy yourself "school supplies" (new stationary or pens, perhaps) or "school clothes" (new boots or shoes, maybe) this time of year? A bouquet of newly sharpened pencils is actually on my list for art classes I'll be taking this fall -- the first time I've truly needed to buy school supplies in years. I'm kind of excited.

Whether you're sending others off to school in the next few days or packing your own self a lunch box, I hope the transition from lazy days to fall routine is full of fun and anticipation! XO

  1. I LOVE that fresh and pretty and picture perfect to kick off a brand new season. Yes, I like to think up any excuse to buy myself new things:)

  2. I loved that line from the movie. Art classes? How wonderful! I'm glad the weather is nice in Seattle, we've had warm days and stormy nights, all beautiful though. xox ebb

  3. I love your water color! I miss the days of preparing for school even after all these years. Maybe that's what I need to go out and buy a few work supplies. My best friend lives in Seattle and has been telling me about your weather and I know she's looking forward to fall.

  4. that ribbon, so lovely. Fall is so invigorating

  5. Great minds...I am guest posting over at A Femme d'un Certain Age today about the same thing! Sigh. I love September.

Thank you for your beautiful comment yesterday!

And as always, I love your drawing...

  6. Oh, I hope that you enjoy your new class! Art classes are so much fun.
One of my favorite movie lines and I LOVE your illustration here!
    Happy Wednesday.

  7. Beautiful illustration, Jeanne. Just last night, I helped my newly-minted 7th grader "organize" his backpack, pencils etc. Well, I only got to watch while he did most of it, but still, this was enough to remind me of how excited I was to get these nice smelling new school supplies, in particular the new pens and pencils... :-) Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

  8. If we make another trip to Staples for the kids, we'll go nuts but we do end up sneaking in a few treats for ourselves. Just picked up a great purple pen for thank yous!
