Smell The Roses

Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying--Robert Herrick

Photos from Mr. H. and I Dream Of

Guys, how can it possibly be August 1? Is it me, or is summer zinging by? Only so many long days left to savor-- we'll be carving pumpkins and hording Halloween candy before we know it. Time to smell the roses, dip our toes in the sand, have a picnic on the beach, make s'mores, shop a farmer's market, eat strawberry shortcake, go jump in the lake, and devour a juicy novel while swinging in a hammock -- to name just a few of my favorite summer things.

What's still on your summer to-do list?

  1. Good Morning

These images are incredibly beautiful and describe summer. We stolled Yorkville last evening with little containers of gelato. There was a beautiful summer sunset too.

Hope your days are long and dreamy

  2. Thanks for sharing the rose images. They will look amazing once they have fully grown over the arches. There are more unchecked boxes than checked boxes on the list. That seems to be the way it is!

  3. Bonjour Jeanne. Can you believe that we haven't been to the beach once this summer? And we live about 40 minutes away! I know. Time to work on that one--some of summer's greatest pleasures are free...

  5. I honestly can't believe it's August! I so want to savor some beach days and read some books.

Love that quote...reminds me of Dead Poets Society, when Robin Williams is first teaching his students!

    Have a rosy day!

Is there anything more beautiful than roses? And the scent is so lovely.
    Beautiful post, Jeanne.
    Happy Wednesday.

  7. i am going to savor these last days for sure. there IS lots of nitty gritty (packing for college, yadayada) but i'm going to sort of ignore it and feel the month is wide open for everything.

  9. Lovely shots of roses, Jeanne. I felt I was back in Paris' Bagatelle gardens :-) Yes, summer is going by fast, but we are enjoying it, bobbing along on the sailboat, even though the weather has not been really hot this year. I am actually looking forward to being home for a while after this trip so I can enjoy my yard and deck before rain returns :-) Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

  10. We really need to hit a local amusement park with the boys and fly high on a roller coaster - preferably before hitting the cotton candy! Happy August, Jeanne.
