The tone set by the table setting is the starting point for the whole evening. Elegant or eclectic. Matching or mixed up. Sometimes, if I have my heart set on using a certain set of vintage bowls, it means there must be soup on the menu... or risotto. Or if nothing but our wedding china will do, what gets dished up must be as refined as the dishes it's resting on.
