Candy Corn Chic

Happy Halloween weekend, all! Will you be dressing up and haunting a party or two? Any good costume ideas?

My Illustration
I have a confession -- I'm crazy about Candy Corn -- it's one of my favorite Halloween treats--although it may be for the bright colors as much as the hit of sugary goodnesss... and those brilliant colors gave me some costume inspiration:

My Illustration

What do you think? Candy Corn Chic? Is it a trick or a treat? And another question that I've been debating with friends: Which is the top of the corn -- the white pointy end or the wide yellow band?  Would the proper shoe choice be yellow... or should they be white for a candy-correct costume?

And if a head-to-toe look is too corny, there's always these festive finger tips -- I would probably have a tough time not nibbling them, though.

What's your favorite Halloween candy to munch on?

Whatever you're up to, I hope you have a spooky, sweet, fun weekend!

  1. I love it! Great illustrations!! You'll be pleased to know that the debate over the color at the top of the candy corn extended to my house, where I was outnumbered three to one in favor of white as the top. I still say it's yellow...

  2. J'adore le candy corn -- and I am not a candy person in general! I would have to vote for the yellow tip as the top, but what do I know? I am French ;-) Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

  3. HA!! Love your clever costume!! I agree with Christina - white is top in my book!! Not much of a candy girl here but I'll accept raisinettes or peanut m&m's! My favorite candy, black licorice, is never an option!!

  4. I do love candy corn....and your illustration is adorable!
Have a chic daughter will be a ballerina...

  5. after years of needing to eat sweets during my starbucks day I only try teeny~tiny bites, I must admit, I do enjoy going through the levels of the candy corn.

    Happy Halloween.

  6. Love, love, love these illustrations! it was a truly spooky weekend around here. It started snowing around 11am and didn't quite until after midnight. Grant and I were going to Cleopatra and Mark Antony for an adult only party - but the weather put a kabosh on that.

We ened up having a wonderful time sitting by the fire, wine in hand, planning a weekend out for our upcoming anniversary.

But, sadly, the costumes will be returned unused.

The next 24 hours are going to be a sugar high for my boys.....the youngest just happens to be nuts about Candy Corn! As for the top or bottom, I never thought about it....I think the top is the pointy white!

    Happy Halloween!
    xoxo Elizabeth

  7. Elizabeth, sounds like a crazy, but unexpectedly lovely evening! Hope you all are dealing OK with the snow -- and the sugar high! Happy Halloween.
