Dish Delish

So a little dish about me, I'm a bit obsessed with dishes.  Fine china, simple white French porcelain, transferware, the random sweet little orphan plate spied at a flea market... I love to set a pretty table, starting with just the right dishware --it can set the tone for the whole dinner party, don't you think?

So I'm looking forward to getting inspired for fall entertaining by Dish: 813 Colorful, Wonderful, Dinner Plates by House Beautiful features editor Shax Riegler. That's a lot of inspiring, delightful dish!

It would make a great hostess gift, too.

No surprise, my favorites are the blue and white ones...

..but I think my dining room could use a little pop of orange. Love this Ming Dragon pattern from Meissen, first pained in 1745!

How about you, what's your favorite dish?

  1. jeanne ~ you should design a line of dishes, you are so talented! Like you, I am drawn to the blue and white wear, but I love the orange Ming plate you closed with.
I enjoy sharing my passion for blue and white on SM so much more now, knowing that you will probably see it. Please stop by to see the gorgeous plates featured at the espadrille shop in Barcelona, they are chipped, cracked and beautiful!
I stopped into Antrhopologie yesterday and saw some beautiful blue and white plates from Portugal. I am tempted to buy them for everyday, but I don't know if they will hold up well. Let me know if you see them.

  2. Hi Emily, you are so sweet! Wouldn't it be fun to design a line of dishes? I did see the AMAZING plates you posted from the espadrille shop in Barcelona -- and drooled over them. Will definitely have to visit while we are there. And I'll have to pop into Anthro to check out the ones that are tempting you! I'll let you know...

  4. Jeanne,
I do hope your next NY trip brings you to my home where I will serve you on my blue and white Royal Copenhagen china! How about a grilled gruyere cheese sandwich and a fresh salad.
Beautiful illustration. Hope you are well and finding more time to paint.
