As Long As You Dress For It

To be as graceful as Grace...

As glamorous as Elizabeth...

As polished as Kim...

As lovely as Audrey...

Most of us could use a little wardrobe advice from time to time. Why not get some tips from the woman who dressed many of Hollywood's most beautiful and stylish stars?

Costume designer Edith Head received more Oscar nominations than anyone else in history: 35, creating the looks of some of the screen's most memorable heroines, from Grace Kelly as Frances Stevens in To Catch a Thief to Audrey Hepburn as Jo Stockton in Funny Face.

In her spare time, she wrote the 1967 style guide, How To Dress for Success, which was recently re-released.

Some of her advice may seem a bit more geared to the Mad Men era, but her original illustrations are as delightful as ever.

And I personally think that the idea that "You can do anything you want in life as long as you dress for it," never goes out of style.

Just like the costumes she created...

I think Edith Head's book sounds like a classic, too.

  1. Hmmm I may just have to pick up a copy because it really is true. All of these lovely ladies wore timeless frocks. Very fun =)
