So, we have the classic and ubiquitous white kitchen, with a white tile back splash, dark wood floors and a stainless steel hood that's the focal point of the room. When we were making plans to move, I had my heart set on black windsor chairs just like these to add a little contrast to all the white.
But then I decided that I wanted to have a little French cafe thing going on in the breakfast nook, and realized that the Windsor chairs would totally clash.
Rattan bistro stools would be perfect, and I like the idea of something that has a back...
But then again, Mr. Hartmann isn't a huge rattan fan.
And something industrial might be a nice contrast to the little vintage French touches around the room.
The DSW Marais stool could be perfect. I like the idea of red, but don't think I could live with it.
Design Within Reach
The gunmetal gray would balance the stainless hood. But would they be comfortable?
Maybe something upholstered would invite guests to linger, or would be a more comfortable perch for morning coffee?
My friend and talented interior designer, Dana, suggested these benches. I do love the look, but how practical would they be to come and go from if more than one person was seated?
Decisions, decisions! Which do you prefer? What do you have in your home? Any resources you would suggest? Would love your help to spur me toward a decision.
