Happy New Week, everyone! Here we are, 2011. So far so good. Any resolutions? Instead of coming up with the usual list--clean closet, no more cake for breakfast, get to gym--I think I'll take a different approach to starting the new year off right.

I actually thought about it on a long walk on the beach at Whidbey Island last Thanksgiving Weekend. Instead of giving myself a list of things to improve about myself, I thought instead I'd like to improve the way I experience the world. Do more of the things that make me happy and less of the things that steal away energy.

So paint more, gossip less. Appreciate what is lovely and good in others rather than quibble about faults (including my own). Less complaining. More playing outside.

And hopefully, if I do more of the things that make me happy and less of the things that don't, I'll have more energy to get to that yoga class, tackle the closet and step away from the cake. What do you think? Good plan? What are you resolved to do this year? Whatever it is, I wish you luck... and hope 2011 is the best year yet.

  1. Happy New Year to you....full of infinite possibilities!
May your dreams be realized this year.

  2. I think it's a great plan!! And love your beautiful photos. Wishing you a very happy inspiring year!!

  3. Love this list...hope 2011 is fabulous for you!!

  4. Great list. It's interesting... I've had a lot of conversations with friends about this too and after catching up on my blogroll today, it looks like a lot of people now are moving over from resolutions to "intentions." And a lot of them are similar in the sense that its about improving life experiences, rather than just eliminating vices. I, for one, have a similar list but I think my biggest plan for 2011 is to save money!

    Happy new year :)
